The General Pump 90516500 is a genuine OEM anti-extrusion ring (also called a backup ring) for General Pump plunger pumps. It sits alongside an O-ring or seal and supports it under high pressure, preventing the softer rubber from being squeezed (“extruded”) into the small gap between mating parts. Without this support, high-pressure cycling can nick, shred, or deform the O-ring, leading to premature seal failure, leaks, and pressure loss.
